Desktop Publishing & Design for Marketing & Promotion

 Monday Mornings 2 hrs: 10am-12pm - 11 week course starting Monday 23rd April 2012
Who is the course for?
This course is aimed at learners who want to make use of Desktop Publishing software such as Microsoft Publisher to:
- Promote yourself with business cards, compliment slips and letter heads
- Promote an Event with flyers, leaflets and posters
- Promote a Product or Service with pamphlets and brochures
- Learn design principles which can apply to any design project.
Learners should have a reasonable competence with Windows and perhaps other applications such as. Word, Web Browsers, PowerPoint, etc. No previous knowledge of Publisher or Desktop Publishing is necessary.
During the Desktop Publishingcourse you will learn how to:
- Recognise and apply the design principles of
- Proximity
- Alignment
- Repetition
- Contrast
- Use Microsoft Publisher to:
- Create consistent business stationery: business cards, compliment slips and letter heads
- Create flyers, leaflets and posters, pamphlets and brochures, and more

 Digital Photography and Photoshop for beginners
Learn to use your digital camera by exploring your camera’s different settings and features.
Learn to make simple changes and apply creative effects to your photos using Photoshop Elements software.
Explore different methods to present and share your photos such as slide shows.
Learn to Upload and share photos on a social networking websites such as Flickr.

 Preparation for ECDL
ECDL or European Computer Driving Licence is a highly respected, Entry-Level computer qualification.
Learn to develop essential office skills and work towards a
well-recognised, international IT qualification.
Learn one of the main office modules of your choice from programmes such as Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Database, Presentation software plus Internet & Email.
Basic computer skills are required.

- Informal & friendly clothes making and Sewing Skills
for Women
Students will learn:
- Sewing machine skills
- Pattern cutting and design
- General clothes-making skills
- Use of different fabrics and finishings
- Making household items e.g. curtains, cushions, etc.
Students can work on traditional & contemporary designs.
