Funding

The EYCPS Services are funded primarily from:

  • the London Borough of Camden (Voluntary Sector Unit & Education Department)
  • Sure-Start Kilburn Priory.
  • Centre-generated funds from fees for activities
  • Trusts and other Charitable sources

Sidings Community Centre strives to promote social inclusion and offers a range of community based opportunities to support the whole family

In addition, the centre is funded through the local SureStart Kilburn Priory partnership, to offer a Parenting Support Project which provides workshops in various aspects of parenting skills and advice on early years child development. The centre is an active partner of SureStart locally.

Basic Objective of Early Years Childcare Services

Sidings Community Centre aims to provide a range of high quality integrated childcare services for children aged 0-4 years, which will foster and nurture the physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of all children attending those services. This will be done within a child-centred ethos in partnership with parents/carers and other key partners (eg Sure Start). Our services will operate within the guidelines of the Children Act 1989 and the National Daycare Standards 2000 as determined by OFSTED.

Facilities

Sidings Community Centre is within the Kilburn Neighbourhood Renewal area, which is an area of high cultural and economic diversity. We have a dedicated Under 5's Building with its own garden, and we are currently undergoing capital works to expand our Early Years childcare services. We strive to offer an integrated and inclusive service to all families with young children and welcome new users. Our staff team are trained and experienced in working with children and families from a wide range of backgrounds and abilities.

Crèches

Please note that due to funding reductions, the Childrens' Centre can only offer a limited number of free or susidised creche places for those parents/carers wishing to attend Cummunity Education classes at the centre. Places must be booked in advance—Contact Children's Centre office for availability.

Playgroup

Children aged between 3–4 years can attend the playgroup as part of our extended day-care, or for morning/afternoon sessions. We offer pre-school learning, meeting Ofsted requirements, with a stimulating multi-cultural programme of activities, within a safe indoor and outdoor play environment. Places are FREE for 3–4 year olds for 15 hours per week.

Adventure Soft Room

Sidings Adventure Soft Room runs during term time on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10:00 to 11:30.

Bouncy castle, soft play equipment and baby corner. Planty of room to run around and let off steam. Ideal for children first starting to crawl/walk etc. and to encourage physical development while playing alongside their peers. This is often Parents', Carers' and children's first introduction to the centre which we find helps the children immensely when attending other centre services and/or activities. Also an opportunity for parent/carers to meet and socialise with new and old aquaintances.

Suitable for all under fives and their parents or carers. Good introduction to social/independent play. We provide playworkers but we do expect parents/carers to stay with their children.

Cost: Waged - £1.50 per child, £1 additional siblings. Concessions - 75p per child, 50p additional siblings.
